Chianna- I looked long and hard at potential sites for the new clinic, but then I decided that next door would be just fine so I don't have to walk so far.

Dear Readers and Fans,
It has been pointed out to me (wrongly, I might say) that I tend to ramble on about myself and what I think and stuff like that. As if I am not taking the opportunity to help others learn and grow and enjoy a different point of view, from time to time. I feel it my duty and, even, obligation, to share my experiences in the world. After all, I've been through quite a lot already, in my young life. As a cancer survivor, I've stared down death and despair and came out on top. Did you know that dogs with bone cancer rarely survive beyond 1 – 2 years? And I've survived (live long and prosper, LOL) more than 5 years since my surgery and chemotherapy. Cuz, I'm cool like that. It didn't matter that my chances weren't very good at the beginning. I know my family was pretty scared, but they toughened up and stepped up to the plate. They gave me fighting chance and that was all I needed. It seems that fear holds so many people and pets back. You know, fear of the unknown, fear of being wrong, fear of getting hurt and, the big one, fear of being embarrassed or humiliated. Giving in to the fear, means you never take the chance and if you never even try, how can you win? You have to try and, sometimes mess up or fail ( not that I ever mess up), and then learn from it and try again. When you finally accomplish your goals, it will, actually, mean something, cuz you earned it. I may have only 3 legs, but I not afraid of anything. . . except the washer (it makes scary noises and I'm sure it would eat me if it had the chance). There isn't anything I can't do. In fact, I can wrestle a dog much bigger than me and still come out on top. . .although I am willing to fight dirty (check out my video on my page). The point is, that even when Penelope and I wrestle and she knocks me down, I grab her feet and pull her down, too. Then I get up, stomp all over her and run away. . . So Cool! So face your fears and face the world and if or when you fall down, pop back up, stomp on your little sister (just kidding), laugh at yourself and act as if you meant to do that, anyway. Who cares what anyone else thinks? . . . See, I can talk about myself and still make a valid point. It's a teaching thing, you know.
Speaking of learning stuff. I have also recently be informed of some super nasty facts that, unfortunately, you should be aware of. Everyone knows about Heartworms and intestinal worms and parasites in dogs and cats, well, at least, almost everyone. Anyway, these parasites can also be in rodents and bugs and worms and lizards and all sorts of living things that get into your yard and home and may get eaten by your pet or use your yard to make a mess (you know what I mean). Dogs and cats can walk in these areas and then ingest the worms when they groom themselves and some very nasty pets will lick the ground where the mess is. Ugh, that is just so gross. The problem is that people can also get these parasites, too! If people walk barefoot in their yard, parks, playgrounds or even at the beach, some worms can actually pass through the skin and move around your body and skin, leaving horrible rashes or , sometimes, damage internal organs or eyes. It gives me the creeps just thinking about it. Children have the highest risk, because they will touch the dirt or sand and then touch their mouths or eat without washing their hands first. So it is SUPER IMPORTANT that people wear shoes when outside and always wash their hands after touching the ground, their pets (not me, of course!), and before eating. Good dogs and cats should not be outside unattended, so they can't eat nasty stuff off the ground and bad dogs, like Penelope, should always be on a leash to help keep them out of trouble. Keep your pets on year -round parasite and worm prevention to keep them healthy and protect your family. As many as 10% of the U.S. Population already has parasites, according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control). That is just icky beyond belief. . . BUT we can do something about that. We can make it better. . .as long as everyone does exactly what I say. Did I say something funny?
